General Information

Over the years Kanata Racers have progressed to compete at national and international levels. The Kanata Racers ‘Learning to Train’ (L2T) program is intended for boys 9‐12 and girls 8‐11 and introduces them to training, competition, and setting realistic personal goals. It is focused on technique and developing motor skills and, of course, fun. The Kanata Racers ‘Training to Train’ (T2T) stream is a more advanced racer program for boys 12‐16 and girls 11‐15. It caters more to the individual skier in a team environment and focuses on improving aerobic capacity, strength and speed.

When and Where?

Dryland training for the Kanata Racers starts in September and takes place on Saturdays, either mornings or afternoons (to be determined by racer availability), in the Kanata area. Training sessions are also scheduled for Tuesday evenings 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in Kanata. The schedule remains the same once the snow arrives, though Saturday sessions will often take place in Gatineau Park. For more details please read the Kanata Racers program information for the 2010-2011 season.

Kate World Cup CanmoreFollow the training of former Kanata Racer Kate Brennan as she strives to represent Canada

22-year-old Kate Brennan is now a world-class skier and a Canmore resident but continues to be a member of Kanata Nordic.

Kate competed for Canada internationally in last year’s Whistler World Cup and in past World Junior and Under-23 World Championships.

Dec. 29, 2009:

The online version of the Kanata Kourier-Standard featured an article on Kate Brennan, who trained with Kanata Nordic and is
now competing internationally. Just one correction for the article – Kate is STILL a member of Kanata Nordic!

Although Kate is not on the national team this season she continues to train and focus on her sport with hopes of representing Canada in the years to come.
