AGM, meeting for all interested, Thursday March 26/15, 7 pm – 9pm @ the Y Bonnenfant Vail building, 1620 6th Line Rd

Our  Trails Day of the season is on Sunday  October 26, 2014

We need your help!

We’ll be preparing our site for the coming ski season.  It’s also a chance to get some fresh air, exercise and meet old your ski mates.

Trails day this year will be different than previous years. This year we encourage adults and teens to participate, but there will not be any jackrabbit events/refreshments.

There will be a jackrabbit event later this fall ,  we hope to see the kids at that future event.

This trails day will involve some moving of equipment and program items, installing signage, setting up snowfencing, and is geared to adults/teens.

Please note we will be based in the YMCA maintenance area this year instead of the further Riverfront parking area.  Park in the main YMCA parking lot.

Please RSVP if you plan to come .

Time: 9am -12  pm Sunday Oct 26 2014

Place: Bonnenfant Outdoor Centre, 1620 Sixth Line Road

Parking: Main YMCA parking lot  ( walk to the maintenance area, first road on the left as you turn into the lot. )

What to wear: work gloves, sturdy shoes or boots, long pants.  There is poison ivy onsite, so be sure to cover up and launder clothing when you get home.

Interesting in Volunteering… Consider Instructing

Stay current, learn about new technique changes and be updated on teaching trends.

The Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors (CANSI) is a non-profit organization designed to promote the sport of cross country skiing in Canada through the provision of high quality instruction. CANSI strives to promote a positive and proactive approach to the teaching of cross country skiing skills through lesson planning and instruction.

CANSI offers four levels of certification in Cross Country techniques and three in Telemark.  Advancement through the levels in both areas marks a progression in an individual’s ability to teach more advanced or expert skiers. Although CANSI’s primary focus is certifying instructors to teach the general public, services beyond instructor certification are also available.  If there is something you feel we can offer you as a service please let us know.

CANSI is the body through which new technical advances in the sport are directed to the learning skier.

Interesting in Volunteering… Consider a Position on our Board

The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at the monthly meetings, booking meeting locations, and record keeping.

The Racing Coordinator oversees the Racer program, managing the budget and the program resources. This is an administrative position that does not include coaching duties, unless the individual would like to do so.

The Event Coordinator takes the lead on a slate of activities throughout the year, assisted by the Executive and a pool of club volunteers.

The Volunteer Coordinator, a new position, builds a list of available talent to assist with club events and other activities.

The Registration Coordinator has been shared by two people, one of whom will not be standing for the role again this coming year. This position mostly involves working with Zone4, our online registration system.

Current Executive members will train and support anyone taking on these roles. If you are interested in learning more about these positions, or taking one on even on a trial basis, please contact club President Richard Batty.
