Support Local Ski Club: Nakkertok could win $250K for snowmaking that would support the whole region!

Nakkertok submitted an application to the Kraft Heinz Project Play contest (www.kraftheinzprojectplay.com) to seek funding to support snowmaking at Nakkertok South and have been named on of four finalists from 821 applicants from across the country. As a finalist, Nakkertok is now eligible to receive $20,000 to support the deployment of snowmaking at Nakkertok South and is also able to compete for the Grand Prize of $250,000. This makes it much more likely that we will proceed with a snow making pilot project in 2016 / 2017 and opens up the possibility of creating permanent snowmaking infrastructure at Nakkertok South.

For the region and Kanata Nordic this has the potential to support cross-country skiing and clubs throughout the region by providing a location for early season training and racing, quality snow for events hosted at Nakkertok and ability to secure experience and equipment that could potentially benefit the entire region as we seek to develop a regional snowmaking plan that would include Nakkertok South as one element. Overall this opens doors to strong future partnerships to expand and strengthen the support in Canada’s capital!

If Nakkertok is to be the Grand Prize winner, however, we need your help!

The Grand Prize Winner will be determined through voting at the Kraft Heinz Project Play website. Voting will take place between Noon ET on July 25, 2016 and 11:59pm ET on July 26, 2016. Please mark this time period in your calendar! Voters must be legal residents of Canada who are 13 years of age or older. Voters can vote multiple times, although any use of mechanical or automated programs to submit votes will result in disqualification.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Help promote our campaign. We will be promoting the Nakkertok project on our Facebook Page and Twitter account until July 26. It will help tremendously if you follow these accounts and share these posts and tweets with your networks.
  2. Encourage voting.

Last year, the four finalists received over 1.1 million votes! If Nakkertok is to be the Grand Prize Winner, we need your support! Anything you can do to spread the word and encourage people to vote (and vote often) for Nakkertok would be very much appreciated!

Please visit the Kraft Heinz Project Play website (www.kraftheinzprojectplay.com) to learn more about the contest and Nakkertok’s nomination. Thank you for your consideration of this request. If you have any questions, please contact Jen Tomlinson at tomlinson@rogers.com.
