ParaNordic Program
Kanata Nordic is committed to making cross-country skiing more accessible and welcoming to athletes with disabilities. Our ParaNordic program provides opportunities for athletes of different abilities and experience levels to learn, develop their skills, and enjoy Nordic skiing in a supportive environment.
The program welcomes athletes who are:
- standing skiers
- sit-skiers
- athletes with a visual impairment
Whether you are new to ParaNordic skiing or looking to continue developing as an athlete, our program can be adapted to different abilities, goals, and levels of experience.
Training and Opportunities
Sessions focus on developing skiing skills, confidence, fitness, and independence on snow. Athletes who are interested in a more competitive pathway can also be supported in preparing for ParaNordic events and racing opportunities.
We are also working to build connections with other ParaNordic programs in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, creating opportunities for athletes to train together and benefit from shared coaching, equipment, and training experiences.
Equipment
Some adapted skiing equipment may be available to try, by request and with advance notice, depending on availability. Longer-term equipment loans or rentals may also be possible through provincial and ParaNordic sport programs.
If you are unsure what equipment you need, we encourage you to contact us before registering. We will do our best to help you find an appropriate option.
