Annual General Meeting – 2026 Season

Dear Kanata Nordic Members,

You are invited to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, May 11th at 7:00 pm.

Location: 350 Legget Drive, Hub 350 – RBC Space

This meeting will be an in-person meeting.

At this meeting we will wrap up the 2025-26 season, review programs and events, present our financial position, and discuss plans and future developments for the club. We will also elect volunteers to the Executive Committee.

We encourage all members to attend. If you’re interested in learning more about the club’s operations, successes and challenges, this is a great way to this is a great opportunity to get involved and connect with others ahead of the next season. Questions and input are always welcome.

If you’re interested in helping shape the future of Kanata Nordic, there will be opportunities to join a committee, serve on the Board, or bring forward ideas for consideration.

1/ 2026 Motion Proposed by KN Trails Department – Equipment Expenditure

A motion for the expenditure for to our large tractor storage tent / shelter, with a budget of up to $25,000. This expenditure would include but not be limited to purchase and installation of an insulation blanket kit for the shelter, and to construct a rigid front wall with rolling overhead door.  The decision regarding the details of the improvements will be researched and recommended by the trails equipment team reporting to the Trails Coordinator. Final approval of the purchase will be made by the sitting Kanata Nordic Executive Committee.

2/ 2026 Motion Proposed by KN Facilities & Equipment Rentals

A motion to approve the purchase of a large portable container for the secure storage of Kanata Nordic’s ski and snowshoe rental fleet with a budget of up to $20,000. This expenditure would allow the club to offer ski rental operations and community programming into times when the club cannot access 411 trails (e.g. December-to-early January). The decision regarding the details of this container will be researched and recommended by the facilities team reporting to the Facilities Coordinator and the Rental/Community Program Coordinator. Final approval of the purchase will be made by the sitting Kanata Nordic Executive Committee.

3/ 2026 Motion to Conduct a Review Engagement

A motion to authorize Kanata Nordic Ski Club to engage a public accountant to conduct a review engagement* in place of an audit for the upcoming fiscal year ending March 31st 2027. This will waive the audit requirement under Section 76 of the ONCA.  

*An audit is when a certified public accountant that is independent of your nonprofit checks your financial records and financial position.

A financial review engagement also has to be done by a certified public accountant that is independent of your nonprofit, but it takes less time and is less expensive than an audit.
