Week of Feb 14

Happy Valentines Day.

We are still looking for volunteers to do a short article on the Tay Valley Loppet, Pembroke Race, Kanata Sprints and add in the Eastern Canadians.  Anyone (athletes) completing an article for the website will have their name thrown in a hat at the end of the season for a ski bag.

Good Luck to the many athletes competing in NCSSA and EOSSA races this week at Nakkertok, and in Pembroke.  Given that many are competing twice and are also competing in the Gatineau Loppet the plan this week is:

Tuesday Feb 15:  Riverfront Park at 6:30.  Classic for those doing classic on the weekend.  Relatively easy session focused on technique.

Thursday Feb 17;  with limited snow at Riverfront and odd weather patterns we will meet at the Relais des Plein Air at 6:30 to ski the Gatineau Loppet course(s) for anyone that has not skied them before.  Classic skiers do not apply wax we will do that on site as we may need klister.

If you registered for the Gatineau Loppet check on-line to confirm your registration  www.eventsonline.ca   Aim to be at to course a minimum of one hour ahead of your race, you need to pick up your own race kit, warm-up and if you are in the 5 or 10 K race get to the starting area early.  If you would like help with grip waxing show up at least 90 minutes early.

Saturday Feb 19:   Gatineuau Loppet Classic.   Subject to confirmation:  In the morning I will set up for waxing in the trailer at Riverfront for anyone that would like some advise on waxing technique and/or help with waxing their skis for the race.  Let me know if you are interested.

Sunday Feb 20:  Gatineau Loppet Skate.  I will be out for the afternoon 10 K skate.  TBC:  I may be willing to wax / help wax some skis late Saturday aft.

Mike
